There are many great restaurants and eating establishments in Hawaii. Here’s a small sample of places to enjoy a good meal.
Kilauea Lodge & Restaurant - This is a bed and breakfast inn located in Volcano National Park. Meals span from traditional American/European to wild game. They have a good wine selection. The atmosphere is a mixture of contemporary and traditional. Brunch is for overnight guests. Dinner is open to the public. Reservations are required.
Tex Drive-In and Restaurant - A great place for down home Portuguese food. They are famous for their Malasadas (puffy deep fried dough rolled in sugar and eaten hot). You’ll also enjoy various chutneys, dessert sauces and coffee.
Bamboo Restaurant & Gallery - This is one of the best places to enjoy the look and feel of old Hawaii. You’ll feel cozy surrounded by bamboo walls and furniture with a display of cultural art. Waiters and waitresses dressed in Hawaiian attire serve you delicious tropical drinks in coconut cups. Great place to enjoy a traditional Hawaiian meal. They have entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays.
Island Lava Java - In need of a caffeine fix in the morning? Stop by and get some delicious Kona Coffee and out of this world pastries. You can also check your email on the Internet (for a small fee).
Kawaihae Harbor Grill - A great place if you love fresh lobster and seafood. The service is very good and it’s child friendly.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Company - A fun place for the family to enjoy great shrimp and seafood. Features memorabilia from the movie Forest Gump. Also serves ribs, steak, and pasta dishes. It’s a fun, loud environment and the service is excellent. Bubba would be proud.
Ken’s House of Pancakes - Won several people’s choice awards and is known for serving the best breakfast in Hawaii. Ken’s is open 24-hours a day, everyday, and serves a wide-variety of food–from spaghetti to Kahlua pig. All-you-can-eat specials on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Lulu’s - Looking for a laid back place to enjoy a meal? Head on over to Lulu’s where you can kick back and watch the surf across the street, while chowing down on a nice selection of burgers, fries, fish tacos and the like. They also serve beer and mixed drinks.
Ocean Sushi Deli - A popular spot for very fresh sushi and seafood dishes. Menu favorites include: Ahi Poke, fried limpets, chewy taco salad, big island roll, and sake steamed scallops.
